I write a lot of emails at work. Like… a lot. And lately, I find myself always writing the following: “I just wanted to….” and I am starting to delete that four-letter-word. I am not “just”. I am important, my time is important, and I need to stop apologizing for taking up space. Can anyone else relate? Since you can’t answer me right now I am going to safely assume there are many that do. So stop saying just… stop saying you’re sorry when you aren’t, and stop making yourself smaller to make room for others.
While this realization came to me at work, it’s something that we can all put into practice in life in general and also with our horses. Don’t be afraid to ask for what you want, whether from your coach, your barn manager, or even your horse! We all need to stand up for ourselves. No one else is going to so go ahead, get out there, and claim your space, no apologies needed.
